Why do Warsaw venues choose the Linea Classic S?
In Warsaw, customers have a choice. If the espresso does not taste the same as it did last week, they go to the café next door. That is why venues that care about coffee choose a machine that gives consistent results rather than the most features. The Linea Classic S has done that job for years. Here are the features demanding venues choose it for.
consistency and stable temperature
The Linea Classic S has a dual boiler: one for coffee and a separate one for steam, with both temperatures controlled by dual PID. The saturated groups are connected to the coffee boiler, so the water is at the same temperature for every shot. Steaming milk at peak times does not take temperature away from the espresso. We cover this in more detail in the guide Dual boiler, saturated group, independent boilers.
extraction time in front of you (AV version)
On the AV version, each group has a display above its buttons that shows the extraction time. The barista can see straight away whether the shot is within the recipe and adjust the grind without a separate timer.
simple buttons
Three buttons per group, no complicated menus. In a venue where the team changes or staff work in shifts at the bar, operation is clear from day one.
quiet operation
In our experience, the external pump on the Linea Classic S runs quietly. In a café with music playing, or a restaurant where the bar is close to the tables, that matters.
design that suits modern interiors
The simple steel body does not date with fashion. It fits a bright café, a venue with vinyl on the walls and a modern restaurant. The machine is on display, so its looks are part of the interior.
Tekla, Muranów

Tekla is a café at ul. Andersa 13 in Muranów. It is run by Stacja Muranów, a non-profit organisation working for the neighbourhood. It stands out for its music: the baristas play vinyl records, and the coffees come from a changing line-up of roasters. Behind the bar is a La Marzocco Linea Classic S.

Doza, Żoliborz
Cafe Doza is a café in Żoliborz that pairs specialty coffee with baking. Customers come for the yeast buns, cakes and alternative brew methods. Espresso is made on a La Marzocco Linea Classic S.

Wandal, Pańska
Wandal is a restaurant at ul. Pańska 97, recognised in the Michelin Guide (Bib Gourmand). It was founded by chef Adrian Bęben and Master Sommelier Piotr Pietras. The kitchen reworks Polish traditions, and the wine list focuses on Polish wines. Coffee is made on a La Marzocco Linea Classic S.
It is a good example of a specialty café machine working just as well in a restaurant. We write about choosing a machine for a restaurant in the guide Espresso machines for restaurants and hotels.

Linea Classic S: versions and number of groups
The Linea Classic S is available with 1 to 4 groups, in EE and AV versions. The EE version has no programmable doses: the barista starts and stops the extraction. The AV version has programmable doses and an extraction time display, which is why we most often recommend it for specialty cafés. Boiler capacity grows with the number of groups, so a larger machine also has more steam in reserve for milk drinks.
| Number of groups | Coffee boiler | Steam boiler | Who it suits (our practice) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1.8 l | 3.5 l | a small bar, coffee as an add-on to the offer |
| 2 | 3.4 l | 7 l | most specialty cafés, traffic up to about 300 coffees a day |
| 3 | 5 l | 11 l | heavy peak traffic, 3 baristas |
| 4 | 6.8 l | 15 l | very heavy traffic, a long bar |
When choosing the number of groups, do not go by what another venue has. Tekla, Doza and Wandal have different traffic and different menus. What counts is your busiest hour, the share of milk drinks and the number of people behind the bar.
What does this mean for your café?
Tekla, Doza and Wandal are three different venues, yet they chose the same machine. It shows that good coffee does not need the most complex machine. It needs one that holds its temperature, gives consistent results and does not get in the team's way.
